Package: munin-node
Version: 1.2.6-10~lenny2
Followup-For: Bug #551128

I'll try to clarify the problem, as I'm not sure the real problem was
understood correctly, and I have the same problem.

When the postinst script completes with:
Setting up munin-node (1.2.6-10~lenny2) ...
Initializing plugins..# There were some errors:
# Got junk from smart_: /usr/bin/env: python: No such file or directory
failed.
done.

It is not just that "smart_" plugin does not get installed if python is
missing; the problem is that *none* of the plugins do - that is, the
/etc/munin/plugins directory remains *empty* after installation if python
was not installed manually beforehand.

If I do install python before, then I get a lot of files in plugins
directory (none of which, ironically, requires python):

cpu df df_inode entropy exim_mailqueue exim_mailstats forks if_err_eth0
if_err_eth1 if_eth0 if_eth1 interrupts iostat irqstats load memory
ntp_offset open_files open_inodes processes swap vmstat

So the problem is that the whole postinst script is non-functional if python
is missing. I think it should either be recommends, or (preferably)
munin-node-configure called by postinst should be fixed to create everything
else but the plugins requiring missing python package (instead of aborting
without doing anything, as it seems to be doing now).
