dpkg has been an enormous time saver for me over the years. Thank you very much for maintaining it.
Unfortunately, I ran into this bug too. At least for me, the above ruby script only fixed a small fraction of /var/lib/dpkg/status. I'm considering various fixes. Would it be OK if every entry in /var/lib/dpkg/status ended up having an "Architecture: " line?
