Ok I created a git repository into the debian-science repo
which contain all the history known from snapshot Debian.
git clone ssh://git.debian.org/git/debian-science/packages/pytables.git
could you add the packaging for the new version in it.
That way it will be easier to review the package.

PyTables 2.3.1 is out now.
I prepared a debian package for it with the following changes:
* New upstream release (Closes: 641485)
* Watch file updated to point tho the new download site
* Copyright file converted to DEP5 format
* Removed debian/pycompat file: no more needed
* Switch to
PyTables 2.3 is out now. It also includes features coming from the
PyTables Pro version (now available under open source license).
