I observed the same bug when installing Debian 6.0.2 on an IBM Power
740.
Installation went normal and as expected. However, when rebooting into
the new system, yaboot hangs with the following error (mind the wrong
line breaks):

Updating yaboot to version 1.3.16-4 and changing the yaboot
configuration "boot=" to a real device path of /dev/sda1 in my case
fixed this.
