I can confirm this bug is still present with procps version 1:3.3.3-2ubuntu3 (on Ubuntu). I have to basically run top; less empty_file, then press qq to fully quit out of top and less, and then my history-search-forward/backward works again. Hopefully someone can fix this soon. Thanks.
