Hey, it seems they are avoiding horizontal bars at all cost as said in a previous message. It behaves exactly as John said with 3.12.2-1 thanks regards Pedro

I just found the related bug report from earlier last year: https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=693459 The issue seems related to avoiding horizontal scrollbar at all costs ---which probably means it won't be fixed, since GNOME developers know best (!).
