I've tried rebuilding the udeb, adding that extra directory (taken on
the host), and fonts are indeed back to normal, and the extra vertical
scroll bar goes away.

post-wheezy upload (see version above), and there's an extra vertical
scrollbar on the right. Both might be due to a broken udeb, or a faulty
