Out of curiosity, would you be running VLC with a GTK+ style? I have the same issue, except if I swap to another style (for example Clearlooks) then everything works perfectly. Even more, using the GTK+ style, it crashes when I use specific GTK2 themes. I am using Greybird right now, and VLC
