Package: git-dpm
Version: 0.9.1-1
Severity: wishlist

Hi Bernhard,

I recently converted a few of my repositories to use git-dpm, and found
that for most of them, I repeated mostly the following:
pristine-tar list (<- find latest upstream tarball)
pristine-tar checkout long_name_of_latest_upstream.tarball (<- get it)
git-dpm init long_name_of_latest_upstream.tarball (<- what I wanted to do)
rm long_name_of_latest_upstream.tarball (<- clean the mess)

Since the repositories already use an upstream branch with nice tags, and
there already is a debian/changelog to see which upstream is the latest,
it would be nice if "git-dpm init" would be enough : git-dpm could take care
automagically of getting&using the tarball... just like "gbp buildpackage -S"
does.

Thanks,

Snark on #debian-science
