am hopeful that this could unblock cairo which is fairly low-level in
bootstrapping.

I intend to orphan the zbar package since I don't have enough time on
package maintenance.
The package description is:

It sends correct IPv6, but IPv4 and hostname are wrong.
user@debian:~$ ip a
1: lo: mtu 65536 qdisc noqueue state UNKNOWN group
default qlen 1000
link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
The IP address is a global information of the system (so, the same IP
address is advertised for all interfaces).
The hostname is the result of "getent host $(uname -n)".

I'm confident I saw this same problem today, with packagekit repeatedly
updating and spinning a CPU for 10 minutes. It only stopped at that
point because I stopped and masked it. (Stopping it was not enough,
something was restarting the service every time I stopped it.) See
attached log.

Hi Ryan,
This bug is also reproducible on the armel and armhf release archs as a
result of the time_t transition, so bumping this to serious.

Hi Helmut,
This looks like an unexpected edge case from the recent usr-merge changes:
https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=1065696
It sounds like a system using sysvinit, instead of systemd, which was
recently upgraded using usrmerge.
