Package: ntpsec-ntpdate Version: 1.2.2+dfsg1-1+deb12u1 Severity: important Dear Maintainer,
It looks like bug #931414 was never fully resolved. The initial suggestion of adding an 'export service' statement was not actioned through, or has later been reverted, so this variable still isn't making it through to ntpdate-debian. * What led up to the situation? /etc/network/if-up.d/ntpsec-ntpdate doesn't trigger ntpdate after network interface comes up * What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or ineffective)? Some testing editing ntpdate-debian showed that this was because the $METHOD environment variable was set, but not $service Modifying /etc/network/if-up.d/ntpsec-ntpdate, adding the 'export service' line as suggested in https://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=931414 fixes the issue. -- System Information: Debian Release: 12.2 APT prefers stable-updates APT policy: (500, 'stable-updates'), (500, 'stable-security'), (500, 'stable') Architecture: arm64 (aarch64) Foreign Architectures: armhf Kernel: Linux 6.1.0-rpi4-rpi-v8 (SMP w/4 CPU threads; PREEMPT) Kernel taint flags: TAINT_CRAP Locale: LANG=en_GB.UTF-8, LC_CTYPE=en_GB.UTF-8 (charmap=UTF-8), LANGUAGE not set Shell: /bin/sh linked to /usr/bin/dash Init: systemd (via /run/systemd/system) Versions of packages ntpsec-ntpdate depends on: ii netbase 6.4 ii ntpsec-ntpdig 1.2.2+dfsg1-1+deb12u1 ntpsec-ntpdate recommends no packages. ntpsec-ntpdate suggests no packages. -- no debconf information
