Package: vmdb2
Version: 0.27+really.0.26-1
Severity: important
X-Debbugs-Cc: pkg-qemu-de...@lists.alioth.debian.org

qemu-debootstrap was a wrapper provided by qemu-user-static
package to assist creating foreign chroots using debootstrap,
before qemu-user binfmt-misc subsystem has been enabled.

For a few debian releases already, qemu-debootstrap has been
just a trivial wrapper around debootstrap, which prints a
warning about the tool being deprecated and run debootstrap
with all the same arguments.

Please drop qemu-debootstrap usage from vmdb2.

It has 2 plugins, qemudebootstrap_plugin.py and debootstrap_plugin.py -
the two should've been the same (besides the command to run), but
for some unknown reason they divirged from each other (most likely
because whomever edited one forgot to edit another). I'd say
qemudebootstrap should be made synonym for debootstrap.

There's one more issue with current qemu-debootstrap: for cases
where qemu emulation isn't needed at all (like i386 image on
amd64 system, with i386 being just another native CPU arch),
this qemu-debootstrap dropping will eliminate qemu-user-static
dependency entirely.

Thanks,

/mjt
