The others that were working on it stopped (I never asked why). I'm
still interested in getting OSSEC-HIDS into Debian, but have limited
time right now, so unfortunately can't commit to it at this time.

Has this stalled out?
From the thread, it looks like this was ready to go. OpenSSL was used only
for performance reasons, and the internal zlib could be replaced with
system zlib.
What's the hold up? Did an unforeseen issue stall release? The thread
just stopped without explanation years ago.
