I can absolutely confirm this fishy behaviour on 2 VMWare guests. (VMware ESXi, 6.5.0, 8294253, vSphere Client version 6.7.0) Also ssh copy was not possible to a host running linux-image-3.16.0-8-amd64 No problems with linux-image-3.16.0-7-amd64. Very fishy.
