I just 'fixed' this in Ubuntu by changing the patch that adds the use of
this variable to just patch the file given that we know what the value
will be in Ubuntu. I don't think that's any worse that the current patch
except if someone wants to build against an old kernel using the package.

From examining the code I suspect that Qt is broken in the same
way. I can't see that it uses a case-insensitive compare for the
IM name.
I believe therefore that a similar fix should be applied to
QT_IM_MODULE as well.
