I have no idea how to debug this, but the current implementation of
goplay seem to be compiletely broken. :(

Have you tried applying the patch from #727626 ?
I applied to subversion and uploaded, along with other patches, to see
if it would improve the situation.
Please test version 0.6 and let me know if it work for you. :)

doing similar.
So am I. But I am unable to fix this bug, and the package is being
removed from testing today. Anyone able to find the bug and fix it in
time for the Jessie freeze?

I can confirm this happens with version 0.47 of apt-xapian-index,
while apt-xapian-index version 0.46 worked (everything else being the
same).
