Installing the kernel image breaks the current one and means the server
is in an unrebootable state. It is beause e2fsprogs is printing
some stupid HEX value for some reason. e2fsprogs
it was a powerpc-specific build problem, I also checked one
of Debian's powerpc hosts and the conffile is identical to my alpha and
i386 ones (bruckner, unstable chroot if other developers were
wondering).
In short, I'm not that convinced this is a bug.

Reverting the obvious patch does not fix this problem.

I just updated apache and now get this error, my guess is it needs a
recompile perhaps.
This is what I get on the command line:

in a non-portable way. OK, probably the easiest way is to just not
compile this if it is not on a i386.
I'll ferret around the auto* documentation to see how to do it.

I do not believe the problem just stems from having foreign libraries in it,
as my system is stock Debian and I have a similar problem.No Ubuntu, no
knoppix, just straight Debian.
apt-get install (some packages) which pulled in a new libc, I think.
Now I get this:

Mine's S30, which is what it should be for a default installation. It's

there is a problem right there.
While IPv6 is a release goal, having sysctl handle the fact the module
is not there first is not. There are ways to have the ipv6 module load
late and to have kernel parameters setup in it.

The library in procps 3.3.4 snuck through an API change but the sonames
were not updated. This means if you upgrade procps to 3.3.4 but use a
3.3.3 libproc then ps ax amongst other things breaks.

is, under what conditions do these odd
/proc/diskstats occur and what interpretation should
vmstat make of the situation? Ignore the partitions?
Raise an error? re-map the disk-partition links
after reading the file?

being the i386 set that failed and then.. was ok with no change of the
code)
FTBFS just basically blocks fixes which is probably not what anyone
wants with impossible to isolate let alone fix, phantom bugs.
