It is completely unrelated to dovecot-imapd. What made mutt crash all
the time, was the contents of LD_PRELOAD. I had /usr/lib/libaoss.so
(package alsa-oss) preloaded all the time in order to enable OSS
dependent apps to use ALSA dmix. Unsetting LD_PRELOAD fixed it.
