does anybody here knows what are the plans for Qt support in Debian,
following the unfortunate decision to lock it down upstream? This has
major consequances also for QGIS, see the thread at:

installing it is not trivial:

should remove all packages?), bu after purging old stuff and installing
the now official package, I'm happy to confirm it is working smoothly

2.14, sid and testing users will have no practical way of using qgis for
a long time.
IMHO this is a major problem for DebianGIS users. I'd be in favour of
finding an alternative solution.

it with core qgis team. Processing has a number of serious limitations
(one for all: vectors should be imported and exported for every module,
which slows down things very considerably). In the long term it might be
possible to drop it, but probably not for now.

Therefore 6s and svm are internal forks, and changes are not going to
be merged upstream anytime soon. Why not putting them under the otb
licence then?

IMHO the package is quite important, as it fills up an almost empty
niche. So, anything that is most appropriate to have in next Debian
