description of CVE-2013-0253 states that wagon was vulnerable starting

If there is a compatibility issue a new package is the way to go,
however I'd prefer a maven-compiler-plugin-2.5 package with the old

I just found out the Apache Mahout project maintains a fork of Colt [1],
they kept only the free bits. Maybe it could be used as a replacement
for the projects based on Colt that don't use the non free part?

dependencies are still compatible with the Java 5 API. But as Niels
stated it's impossible to keep the Java 5 compatibility everywhere (Java
9 will even be unable to generate Java 5 bytecode [1]).
