In my case the error was:
couldn't create slave: Unable to create io-slave:
klauncher said: Unknown protocol 'file'.
After the kio package installation all work correctly.

I am co-maintainer of smooth tasks.
Upstream has still activity but there are no commits in the direction
of supporting plasma 5.
Meanwhile, there is a plasmoid in plasma5 that does something similar,
but I think overall it's rather crappy. For example it groups windows

After an unrelated system reinstall, I've noticed that Kscreen does work
as intended and allows the screen to sleep.
However, after I installed bumblebee/primus for my Nvidia card, the
behavior I described in the bug report shows up again, and the screen
can't be put to sleep unless Kscreen

I tried to reproduce this problem and sure it looks scary but do we have a
real problem beyond this warning?
In my testing this warning followed by retrying transaction and everything
