I suppose, the problem is that openssl minimum protocoll version changed
to 1.2 and your mail server supports only 1.0.
You could probably restore the old version by changing the last section

Hi Hans,
as Pino said, you should wait for kmail2 to enter testing.
I use kdepim modules from unstable with german translation ok.
So either wait or move to unstable.

Hi,
most of my mail is delivered to /var/mail/matthias by exim, and I'm using
kmail to read it. This worked pretty much out of the box with Wheezy. After
upgrading to Jessie, I created an extra receiving account for
/var/mail/matthias, which is causing problems: Mails, which I already did read
of old messages, which
are (of course) also marked unread.
Is this still an issue with the current kmail (4.14) or akonadi (1.13)?
The issue went on-and-off over a lot of time, and in the end I've given up on
trusting kmail2 with my read/unread marks; so it was hard to me to answer

Hi Debian Qt/KDE team!
Please make sure that when you package KMail 2 the fix for
Bug 288792 - data loss: kmail2 must not use existing [Folder-xy] settings

https://bugs.kde.org/288792

Officially the fix
Why not, but as fas as I am aware, kmail2 is not (yet) packaged in Debian
and even then, a path for transition is needed.
