Well your rootdelay solve the problem
I haven't seen the error about root not found.
the mpt driver wasn't not yet initialized when the boot process try to
mount root.

use rootdelay=12 to shorten time to see if the trouble is initramfs
and then check which devices are there, post the corresponding dmesg
