Hi,
I'm new on the list but I have had some success using casper on etch.
We would like your opinion on a cluster setup that we're think of.
The idea is to boot all diskless servers over the network using a
single filesystem image.
Does that sound like a good idea?
We have managed to do it in
Thanks Jordi, that was what I was looking for.

Hi,
It boots fine except we are seeing.
Activating swap...done.
that 'Activating swap' comes from the initscript from the normal system.
it enables, if any, a swap partition found in /etc/fstab.
/etc/fstab contains automatically a swap partition if live-initramfs has
found any usable

Yes, but that means I need a seperate initrd for each diskless server,

Greetings,
Well what about trying to use the boot param ip from tftp, then for

Hope this helps.

all the network cards have different MAC, ? :)
ok. I understand now. That sound's a lot easier than what I've been
trying to do today. I would only need to update the
/udevtrigger matches
scripts/live:udevtrigger
scripts/init-premount/udev:udevtrigger
scripts/live-bottom/23networking:udevtrigger
Let's see if I can get somewhere after the weekend. ;)

Hola,
Well, I think I'm onto something..
It seems that my /etc/udev/rules.d/z25_persistent-net.rules never gets
written to.
And then I discovered that /lib/udev/write_net_rules is not copied to
the ramfs image.
So I edited
/etc/initramfs-tools/hooks/udev
and added it (plus other things just
Hi,
I've got a debian installation I built from hand starting with debootstrap.

Now I would like to boot it from a CD but I'm a little lost.
The help I can find on the net only seems to indicate how to

I'm trying to setup diskless servers with live-initramfs. this error
happened after I mounted a nfs on /home (if that has anything to do
with it).
googling about, I see it's a unionsfs error.

aufs is kernel dependent, means, you need matching version of linux and

Hi,
I've been asked to tutor a 2 hour workshop on Xen.
I'm not allowed to touch the installed operating system in the computer lab.
Would it be possible to make a liveCD (perhaps a lenny) with xen
installed and ready to boot?
Thanks.
Chris.
