hey,
just use unionfs and squashfs combined to set up an persisent readonly device
where you can boot from.
your kernel need to be patched for those filesystems. look at the live-helper.

kernel for squashfs and unionfs and it works fine
without encryption. I don't see any problems with sqaushfs-tools
provided by the lenny-mirror. I read a couple of days ago that an live
system needs an user with a uid below 1000 for some kind of reason

installed all what is written in the loop-aes readme.
Without gpg I can decrypt my squashfs on boottime.

I'm trying to figure out how I could fancy let my people type in the
passphrase in order to setup loop-aes to my squashed rootfs. As far as I
know the password-prompt will intercept my splash-screen. Does any of
you have a suitable solution or any advice on this?
