Package: tpb
Version: 0.6.4-6
Severity: important

$ tpb
Unable to open device /dev/nvram: Permission denied

$ sudo tpb
No protocol specified
Unable to initialize xosd. Running without onsceen display.
No protocol specified
Can't open display, X may not be running!

I tried changing permissions and group ownership of /dev/nvram, but it made
no difference:

$ ls -l /dev/nvram
crwxrwx--- 1 root nvram 10, 144 Sep  6 17:04 /dev/nvram

$ groups me
me : me cdrom floppy sudo audio dip video plugdev bluetooth netdev nvram

I also tried creating a udev rules file ( /etc/udev/rules.d/10-local.rules):
KERNEL=="nvram", MODE="0664"

which also made no difference.
