After a recent upgrade of Xorg, I am finally successfully running XFCE with compositing working great with my Mobility Radeon RV350. Switched to EXA and that is working beautifully and I'm finally running with render acceleration. Found xorg is using about half the CPU that it was using with EXA disabled. Here is the relevant portion of my xorg.conf:
Section "Device" Identifier "ATI Technologies Inc RV350 [Mobility Radeon 9600 M10]" Driver "radeon" # Option "FBTexPercent" "0" Option "AccelDFS" "on" Option "AccelMethod" "EXA" Option "MigrationHeuristic" "greedy" Option "EnableDepthMoves" "true" ## THE OPTIONS ABOVE WERE COMMENTED OUT BEFORE XORG UPGRADE Option "AGPMode" "8" Option "DDCMode" "on" Option "EnablePageFlip" "on" Option "BackingStore" "1" #Option "SaveUnders" "1" #unused, for some reason BusID "PCI:1:0:0" EndSection However I seem to be having trouble with rendering text, according to gtkperf.
