I have already contacted Gabriel Montenegro (the upstream author of
ethstatus). He is not interested in adding new features or removing
bugs. However the source code doesn't look too hard to maintain. So if
nobody objects I will debianize the software and fix minor bugs.

cooperative. So if nobody objects I will do the package.

I've had contact with the upstream maintainer Anthony Stevens and tried
to resolve a few bugs. However after taking a closer look into the perl
sources of guardian I found that it would take a lot of code mangling to
get it to work. It has a number of bugs (like it can only handle /24

IMHO you would have to alter the setup.py. The setuptools are creating the
EGG-INFO directory automatically. Might be better to have the upstream do
this. setuptools can be beasty.

The package needs minor fixes. I'm willing to sponsor uploads if
required. There have not been any updates of the upstream software in years.
Only 15 people have reportedly installed the package. So if nobody is
willing to adopt this package I will consider having
