Ok, I did not post before as I was doing deep tests on Edgy and Feisty
Alpha, on how to find a way to reproduce the crash with a live CD. I can
now trig it straightforwardly and easily.
The result is that I get this Nautilus bug / crash on *both* distros
live CDs, Edgy and Feisty Alpha.

a DELL Inspiron. The Gnome developer of the applet got some debug info
from me and he said that this is Ubuntu's bug and not his. He says that

Hi,
Yes I am using GDM, I have not changed the GDM config myself, but I
believe something has ( I can only assume the application of a theme as
I have lost my shutdown buttons from gdm also)
Here is a prudent portion of my gdm config

When i open my My Computer my DVD/RW Drive was not detected.
When i place a cd in the drive, the dvd/rw was detected for a while and i can
work with
them.
