Yes, this is the same in Karmic. Should be very simple for anyone to
confirm: Just choose a screensaver in the preferences (for instance
Swirl is good because is starts up fast and fills the screen. Suspend
the machine and watch as the screensaver starts running for a second
before the machine

scroll in unfocused windows as long as the cursor is over them, so
that would still work. And if you'd like to be able to type in
unfocused windows, then use focus-follows-mouse which allows this

This really is not a fix, just a workaround. I use Evolution all the
time and it is in my tray right now. The application to do this is
called alltray. It can be downloaded by doing 'sudo aptitude install
alltray' . Then if you go to applicationsacessoriesAllTray, it will
ask you what application

Running the three commands I suggested caused to to lose sound? Those
commands shouldn't do anything but display information. They also give
three separate outputs. Could you attach all three separate outputs?

This was originally a confirmed paper cut, and although it appeared to
be too difficult to fix as part of the paper cuts project and was marked
invalid, it was fixed anyway so I'd like to re-identify it as a paper
cut.
