Hi,
I am facing similar issue in Karmic. I have Karmic installed in my HP Laptop
with internal DVD-ROM drive. In general I get the pop-up notification 'which
program should be used to open the CD' if I pop in a Audio CD. But for some
Audio CDs esp. for Audio book CDs Karmic will freeze when the
Forgot to mention...
Karmic works fine for DVD or data CD. This problem occurs with Audio CDs only.

I have a similar problem. It seems to be a general problem with text
for me. I can use the type tool, but as soon as I go into select and
click on the text, the background, or try to resize it, I get this

Since the latest updates (20th March), there is still a 20+ second
'hang' before the wallpaper appears, however, now the panels do not
load, but the desktop icons do. With no panels, Lucid is essentially
unusable. Have to use ctrl-alt-delete to restart.

As far as I know, there have been no papers or research published on
window button placement, or the advantages/disadvantages of any of the
suggested positions and combinations.
What we do know already is that it appears that MS arbitrarily chose the
top-right position, and Apple chose the left

same problem here, but in my case disappeared after installing nautilus,
rhythmbox and after restart, all gnome disappeared, leaving only the
wallpaper

Hello,
i hope this was not already mentioned (i can't read 283 comments now) but when
you use gnome-shell the buttons are very near to the activity button.
sometimes i open the overlay mode when i want to use the buttons.
This can suck ;-)
on the other side when i don't use gnome-shell i prefer
