I have tried to benchmark different drive/media combination with the
Disk Utility tool. And here is what I have found:
1. Internal DVD/CD drive - same too slow error (has fail rate, but it fails
most of the time)

I had the same problem on Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS 64bits. I left my computer
running during the week-end (with 4 programs running with 100Mio usage
each) and I ended up with nautilus eating 3 Gio RAM. It was the limit of
my RAM and I was lucky enough to have enough responsiveness when I came
back to
tellapu, you are welcome to find someone who can fix this bug. But if
you can't, then don't be surprised that nobody else has either. A bug
comment is rarely a good place to appeal for the bug to be fixed,
because the only people who will see your comment are people who have
already considered

thanks for responding I have hunted down the issue about 5 minutes ago.
This is only happening when I am running mutter as a windows manager and
not metacity. When I run in mutter it (debuging) says that It can not
access drives on the network and that I do not have permission and

This is also the case for me on my 12.04 32-bit system but *only* if I
double-click on an ISO and launch Brasero that way. If I open Brasero
*first*, tell it I want to burn an image, and then choose the ISO,
Brasero closes as expected when I'm finished.

It's used for the window's buttons and title when in maximized mode, and
the application name when non-maximized. The solution is to show the title
whenever the mouse reaches either the top left corner (application title
area when not maximized, buttons area when maximized) or the area between
confirming this as well.
If I try to transfer the same file for example via gFTP which handles the FTP
stuff by itself I get a) 3 times the speed and b) the transfer succeeds without
problems.
