Ever since this fix was released my laptop now goes into standby mode
anytime I close the lid on gnome-flashback. The only workaround was to
use the gnome-tweak-tool like mentioned in comment 1.

I no longer have an Radeon HD 6850 (since 2 weeks ^^), but an RX 560.
I tried weston a little bit to know if it was a wayland problem, but

It doesn't matter witch session I use. This bug concerns UBUNTU DEFAULT
SESSION. I dont know, why you cannot understand this. I even provide
info about patch, which should be disabled to fix this.
Once again:
1. Start ubuntu.
2. Install gnome-tweak-tool.
3. Disable "Application Menu" in "Top
I'm attaching a proof of concept python script that restores the
behaviour (in case it's useful to others).
The script should be launched as:

Totem pauses and stutters during video playback even when CPU
I had one crash after applying this yesterday (and rebooting): it
crashed right out to the console, not even to the login screen, and when
I tried logging in again the session failed to start. But since a second
reboot it's apparently been fine. This bug went away, and so too has my

The battery charge/discharge times are way off using Ubuntu 17.10. My
battery is old, but it should still be good for about 60 minutes of
