@joshu aghora (josh-gura)
Well it seems that the Ubuntu Gnome team has no plans to fix this for 16.04
LTS.
You can either add the Gnome Team staging :ppa from Launchpad and
upgrade Gnome to 3.20 (not ideal, because it might break the system) or
move to another distro.
I am still running the

Ok. It works.
Thanks vary much.
Since i have now installed a proposed package update will
that mess with a future update-upgrade of my system?
Also after the installation i deselected the 'proposed' archive
from the Software & update tool.

@Sebastien Bacher I'm on Ubuntu Gnome 16.04. The Nautilus version is
3.14.3 and there is no 'open-folder-on-dnd-hover' setting at the dconf.
It seems that the bug fix was implemented for a later release of
Nautilus... :(

This bug makes organizing files with Nautilus on Ubuntu 16.04
irritating.
It's been 2 years since the original bug report.
Can somebody please look into this? Pretty please with sugar on top!
If this behavior is considered a feature by the Nautilus team, then at
least give us an option in the
I am getting similar symptoms (media-hub-server high cpu) , although I
didn't see unity8 restarting (perhaps it did and I didn't notice?).
I have attached a tarball of strace (clipped because it was just the
same after a point), gdb backtrace and a core file generated from inside
gdb for
The spinning futex wait we get in the strace:
2391 futex(0x1072a70, FUTEX_WAIT_PRIVATE, 2, NULL) = -1 EAGAIN

An easy way to reproduce this (works for me at least):
Install stallboard app from the store, run it, play a couple of sounds
and then close it (swipe up/down in the window list) = media-hub-server
starts spinning. This doesn't involve a unity8 crash, so not 100% sure
it's the same problem
Public bug reported:
Steps to reproduce:
1) Right click on the desktop and create a new empty document (New Document -
Empty Document)
2) Rename the file
3) Observe that you can hardly see what you're typing because the filename text
is now black.

Nautilus starts on top of Firefox, but its window does not get any focus; if I
