I also spotted this today. I was using a full screen terminal (less
distracting) and I wanted to make the terminal have a solid colour
background. I edited the profile and changed the background to Solid
Colour, but the terminal background is still very slightly transparent,
enough to still see
It seems this might be something to do with the new Ambiance and
Radiance themes. If I switch to the Clearlooks theme, the terminal
background is properly solid with no transparency when Solid Colour is
selected, which is the expected behaviour.

terminal transparency not changeable
That's weird. I have just tried configuring the terminal to use a
transparent background when using the Clearlooks theme and it works as
expected for me.

Personally, at the time of writing this, I do not like this change as it
seems to be more a change for changes sake in an effort to simply be
different. There seems to have been an element of groupthink in the
design and decision process. This is a pity because for the most part,

Just to confirm that since installing the update I have not had a re-
occurrence of this problem. Thanks!

It's good to hear from others also experiencing this problem. I guess I
should clarify my original description to make it clear that Nautilus
does not hang, as in crash, it just seems to be forever trying to
generate the thumbnails. Therefore, it would seem impossible to provide
a backtrace.
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: nautilus
When using Nautilus in Ubuntu 9.10 I have noticed that it appears to

The problem only seemed to happen if the BBC content viewer was enabled
(which it was by default). However, since I did an aptitude upgrade last
night, I noticed that Totem 2.28.1 is now installed and the problem with
the sidebar status seems not to exist any more.

Totem always displays
I have discovered that this Gnometris crash only happens when Metacity's
compositing effects are enabled. After disabling Metacity's compositing
effects, Gnometris works as expected and does not crash as described
previously. Enabling Metacity's compositing effects causes Gnometris to
start
Public bug reported:
Binary package hint: totem
Previous versions of Totem would remember if the sidebar was hidden or
not between restarts. If the sidebar was hidden when Totem was closed,
it remained hidden when Totem was next started. Now Totem always shows
the sidebar when starting, even if
