OK, I looked into it quickly in gdb, it seems like something not obvious
or memory-corruption related. Since I felt it was going to not be a
one-minute fix, I just disabled the nautilus extension for now. It's not
very important to the deja-dup workflow.

Here's a followup on living with silo 26 (pre-comment 97, so an earlier
version, but I doubt it matters for testing?) and Tony's libqt5network5.
I tested this morning (so a full day of the phone living on this code)
and it was slightly worse -- small stutters instead of tiny ones. But

@Tony, small stutters when transitioning from wifi to mobile. I don't
see stutters when scanning anymore. And the stutters I do see when
transitioning from wifi to mobile seem better (presumably because less
dbus signal watchers are registered now for all the traffic that happens
on a switch?).
I tested silo 26 + libqt5network5 from Tony's PPA and did my normal
routine of walking out of range of my home network.
It seems much better. dbus-daemon CPU usage is down (only ~30% for a
few seconds after initial switch to 3G and ~15% during scans after).

2) there is not yet a friendly get/set command line tool
3) libaccountsservice hasn't yet added API for custom

greeter-related AS custom properties. But I'd like to avoid it if
possible. I don't think we have an actual need for gsettings to be
considered the canonical store.)

rhythmbox crashed with SIGSEGV in
OK. I've confirmed that on 10.04.4, both VIRT and RES climb when
transfering over webdav. But at least on 12.04.1 and up, only VIRT
climbs.
So I think this bug has been fixed upstream. VIRT climbing alone I
believe just means that the memory is being fragmented easily. Not that
there is a
OK, circling back on this. For testing, I've found that
https://cloudsafe.com/ gives free 2GB webdav accounts for use. Once
your account is set up, you can reproduce a climbing VIRT count in top
by doing the following:
gvfs-mount davs://XXX.webdav.cloudsafe.com/
while true; do gvfs-copy YYY

I believe I've found why this happens. Or at least, one way it *could*
happen. With a very similar stacktrace.
While a GtkUIManager is updating its dynamic elements, and it destroys a
menu item, any signal handlers for that destruction might further modify
the UIManager. And the current code
