it actually has the point. when a person is sending a tweet or writing
for wall he is not actually chatting with someone like in empathy. he is

Please open a terminal and type alsamixer and see if the mic is muted
and unmute it. If that doesnot solve the problem can you please test if
sound recorder records your voice. if sound recorder can record your
voice then the issue might be empathy else it can be hardware/driver
issue thanx. At
I don't face this on Lucid. when I launch empathy from applications menu
or indicator applet in both cases contact list comes up.

@jfcgauss those comments would have matter a bit if they were commented
at bugzilla. ubuntu developers dont develop empathy neither ubuntu
developers added video calling in empathy its all the awesome work of
telepathy developers.
