it took a while to find an example, but here it is with a screen shot
showing the Nautilus screen; I think the salient details is the odd bitrate
(56kbps) reported by File -- I noticed this on one of the other examples, a
super-low bitrate reported, and yet the audio file itself sounded fine, as
I can log it with the Upstream list, but I think I might wait until Ubuntu
11 just in case the behaviour vanishes over the upgrade.

I rather suspect this is not going to get fixed; it has been outstanding for
so long for what would appear to be such a trivial fix; it's my guess that
f-spot is a cob-web, its developers moved on to more lucrative game or

I am using 0.6.1.5 from the Ubuntu 10.04, and I do not see any importing
of AVI files; using version 0.4.3.1 in Ubuntu 8.04, the f-spot would see
the .AVI files and offer to copy them, and then copy them into the
correctly dated folders, although it would not show them in the
thumbnail display.

In Ubuntu 8.04, I have System/Preferences/Sound -- notice the
slashmarks, the way everyone in the known universe signifies menu paths
-- and there is no 'sounds', and under 'sound' there is no audio and
video only Devices, of which the Sound Events says autodetect; I don't

there's ... ah ... a seperate volume control for Rhythmbox, and, um,
well ... it has a mute button.
I must have hit some key combination hot-key that sets RB into instant
mute, and was so surprised by the effect that I just didn't see the tiny
red-bar crossed-out speaker-icon right there
ahem ... as an expert (started off in Yggrasil) I got to this point
and froze, clicked bug report and fortunately found this page. To us
experts unmount means remove from the mount table and in previous
versions of linux hotplugging, this could prevent all future auto-
mounting of the device.
