natty (and maverick). Please reopen if you still experience this bug.

I'm having a similar problem in Lucid (beta 1):
Some utilities, like wget, curl etc. don't receive the updated proxy
settings when clicking apply system-wide
Applications like Firefox get the correct proxy settings.
Here's the output from the terminal:

I am seeing the same thing when I click Apply system wide. I assume
there should be some service that uses PolicyKit and dbus service
activation to apply that, which we aren't shipping.
