The menu bar's mnemonic accellerators conflict with a commonly used Bash
keybinding: Alt-F - move forward a word.
Thus not being able to prevent the menu bar from showing by default has
a strong negative impact on the usability of gnome-terminal.

Mike, no it doesn't. Try EditKeyboard shortcuts and uncheck Enable
menu access keys such as Alt+F to open the File menu.
