No. i can't. Because, there are no buton or something similar and of course the
notification stay.
With
the latest version of Ubuntu / Empathy seems to have resolved this.

I have the same bug with Empathy 3.4.2 on Ubuntu.
You could see that we have a notification. (super_...@gmail.com aimerait savoir
si vous êtes en ligne, we can translate: super_d...@gmail.com wish to know if
you are on line).
May be the french translation is no goog, but with
[Expired for empathy (Ubuntu) because there has been no activity for 60
days.]

I just hit this as well. The contacts were actually spam, but I'm not
sure if that was the reason I couldn't find how to approve/disapprove
the request.
