Yes, I can see the device in nautilus (even though with some weird icon

seems like an unity bug to me, but since that's user config specific
that's a bit weird, reassigning there for debug anyway, the drive is
correctly listed by gvfs and nautilus

Then it's clearly not a Unity bug. Try checking your autorun settings in
the System Info thing in System Settings. Also, check if you have any
other file manager installed that's fiddling around with this.
