it because the inability to create a thumbnail crashed the file browser
used by firefox, so I couldn't get into the directory containing the

The SD card is a Kingston and I attach it to my Vaio notebook through a
Sony Vaio memory card adapter ExpressCard, if that is any help.

Didn't realise this hadn't been updated: it's the default font on
Intrepid alpha 4 when GNOME is used without any desktop effects (no
compiz etc). This is true for both my notebook (with an intel 965) and
my desktop (with nVidia Quadro).

I just installed a bunch of plugins and media handlers as well as
following your suggestions and now have un-garbled BBC Radio 1 in
Firefox 2
What plugin is handling the Real Audio stream for you in Firefox 2? Can
you please attach the output from typing
about:plugins
in the address
Actually, running firefox-3.0 at the command line revealed that totem
was handling the stream and failing dismally. Removing totem and helix
player and making sure that mplayer was installed fixed it for me. This
is not a bug in FF3, it is in totem or its codecs.
Diagnosis: totem is broken.
OK, I have the same problem with FF3: mplayer plugin is installed and
handling Real Audio streams but the output is garbled still.

Real Player stream is garbled on BBC radio
If I remove gstreamer0.10-plugins-ugly, I get no sound whatsoever, then
when I reinstall it I get the same garbled output so I guess the bug is
in the codec.

Real Player stream is garbled on BBC radio

When I try to listen to the Real Player stream or old shows on BBC Radio
1, I get totally garbled output in my headphones.
The Real Player stream is affected:

I think so - I only have one battery listed now but it's not responsive
and the power history graphs no longer log any data. Marking as
duplicate of #194180.

OK, now the behaviour is different: I have one battery reported but it's
not responsive to events like plugging power in or out. HAL info
attached:
battery.rechargeable.is_charging = false (bool)
is wrong because the notebook is plugged in and charging.
