the menu bar vanishes, never to return.

segfault shortly after connection to an USB modem is established

In one of the duplicates a user reported that he could solve the problem
(get new CUPS package installed) doing the following commands in a

@chmelab It's not currently fixed in 4.4.x; the question is whether it's
going to be fixed in the 4.4.x kernel at any point in the future, and if
so, when. (from my point of view I'd rather not move away from LTS
unless absolutely necessary)

@JaSauders I think the downside is that restarting NetworkManager, on a
system that doesn't have any problem with network connections after a
suspend event (and that surely must be most systems, or this would be
fixed already) will result in a much slower reconnection to the network.

And just for the record I'll add that in the week or so since I
installed the package from the -proposed repository I have had no
recurrence of either of the two symptoms (wrong window displayed on top,
all windows displayed behind desktop background) that I had previously
been encountering every
@monte, I get the impression that you may suffer from more than one bug.
I have none of the symptoms you describe. I believe that this bug
report must remain focused on the resume issue. Any other issue should
be in another bug report (maybe already existing?).
In a sideline, sometimes I feel
