For clickpads this is the expected default behaviour now (see bug

Your "emulated buttons" actually don't exist, except in software.
They're just paint on the touchpad and not real buttons.
To change back to the old behaviour you can install package 'gnome-tweak-tool'
and set:
Please install 'openssh-server' and log into the system from another
computer. Now reproduce the freeze and during the freeze, run this from
your ssh login:
apport-cli -u 1749779 --hanging -P `pidof -s gnome-shell`

and adding the line

This bug has block-proposed set which is the only thing preventing those
NM addons to land in bionic. However, it also was preventing unrelated
bug fixes to gnome-shell to land in bionic today.

Systems with Optimus (Intel+NVIDIA GPUs) can have ghost VGA devices
hardcoded in the BIOS. This leads the system into thinking that there is

Confirmed. The main gnome-gmail application is unable to launch
(English). This does not happen with other launchers (file browser,
LibreOffice, ...).
As a work around, open the doc with another application, e.g. Chromium.

Might not be helpful. I edited my radeon.conf (which had "Detail") so I removed
that.
Plus I had to chown {user}:{user} .Xauthority to be able to login (otherwise it
would just kick me back to login screen) It helpt me logging in, but ofcourse
not as it should.
