My setup:
- OS on a 256GB SSD disk, ext4, defaults
- /home on a 8TB Seagate Archive HDD, f2fs, defaults, mounted to /home. The
disk has *no partition table*. It is entirely fsf2-formatted. (as a
super-floppy).

After extensive trial-and-error effort, I discovered this issue is not
related with browsers, but can be related to systemd. Google Chrome also
does not save bookmarks and history, behaving erratically because this.
Trying to start watsapp web brings an error message saying that the was
an error

Firefox says one of it's files is in use

Steps to reproduce:
- Make a full backup of Firefox user data;
- rm -rf /home//.mozilla;
- apt purge firefox;
- apt install firefox;
On first run, Firefox Says "The bookmarks and history system will not be
functional because one of Firefox's files is in use by another
The external monitor is 'HDMI-0', connected to NVIDIA HDMI port.

- External 1080p60 monitor connected (recognized by X as 1080i60). Changing
resolution manually fixes the resolution until next reboot.

- unistall usb-modeswitch package with "sudo apt remove usb-modeswitch"

Bug confirmed on Dell Latitude Inspiron 15 7000 Gaming Laptop with
Ubuntu 16.04 factory installed. Upgrading to Ubuntu 18.04 resolve the
issue, but introduces new bugs related to Nvidia driver and
xorg/wayland. Not a good solution.
