Everyone: Try clicking on the cog when entering your password to log in,
and change your session from the default Wayland session to an X.org
session. This bug looks like it's confined to Wayland but doesn't exist
in X.org. Switching to X.org will be a good workaround until the bug is
fixed.

Title:
  Drag and Drop Malfunction

Status in nautilus package in Ubuntu:
  Confirmed

Bug description:
After upgrading from Ubuntu 17.04 64bit to 17.10 transferring a file
from one folder to another fails with drag and drop. The grab will
move the file but not drop it. It is as if the mouse-up does not
register. The grab remains but mouse will not release until I log out
of my account and log in again. The right click "move to" will work to
  move files.
