Clearly I do experience this bug only using X11 (at the moment I have to use Nvidia + X11 since Intel hdmi seems to be broken in new 6.5 kernel and Nvidia + Wayland leads to an unusable desktop because of erratic keyboard entries, erratic menu item selection and so on, e.g. with Firefox snap). --

It might work in a VM because that uses Xorg? I'd expect this to be more of a problem for Wayland (https://gitlab.gnome.org/GNOME/mutter/-/issues/2374). At least with X11, apps/toolkits can remember and enforce their window position. In Wayland they can't. I can't find any upstream reports saying
