other users? the lightdm users can only display files it can read, if
your user directory access is restricted that doesn't work, it's a known

Evince 3.2.1 fails to print
Status in “cups” package in Ubuntu:

in fact the system is non obvious, the preferences let you set the
default, then the menu let you customize the view for a specific
directory (same as you would do for sorting or view mode), so you could
disable hidden file by default but only show their in your hacking
directory or something.
Thank you for your bug report, I can't confirm that here. Does it happen
all the time in any directory? Did you change anything to your nautilus
configuration (using list mode for example)? Does it happen in a guest
session?
