What also happens is if you move a window the busy cursor halts. But
this is just temporary, opening a new window causes it to start up

software-properties only removes the driver meta package so actually nothing is
removed.

properties-gtk, synaptic, gnome-disk-utility, ect. as any & all of them
will cause/experience the same issue, sans a segfault.
As soon as 1 app that calls a pkexec auth dialog is canceled then no other app
can use pkexec auth until
Not sure why gnome-shell was removed as clearly that's were the issue is.
G-c-c may be the only apt actually crashing but this affects any apt that calls
a pkexec Auth dialog.
Easy examples are software & updates > change something, cancel the auth dialog
or synaptic > cancel on the auth.

It's possible that this broke on the switch to libva2 which would be somewhat
hard to test on a current 18.04 image.(not impossible just hard due to
extensive amount of packages involved..

Linking to libmir* seems to be of no value & is a roadblock to some things, ex.
chromecast support in vlc.
Myself see no change when mesa is not patched for mir, if there is no value
anymore then please remove from build.
